Frequently asked questions
Before your dogs first walk we do advise you book a free consultation to ensure your pet gets the most out of their time with us. When registering on our booking system the more information you supply about your dog(s) the better we’ll be able to match your requirements and send the most relevant member of staff to meet you and your dog(s).
If you think your dog will be nervous with a walker coming in your house for the first time, we strongly recommend a chemistry meet beforehand. We will happily guide you through the phone app so you can easily book track and pay online.
Ideally, we ask clients to install a key safe so dog walkers and sitters can access the property, even in an emergency or on those days where you just can’t get back in time! However, if this isn’t possible, we do ask for 2 spare keys; a master and a key for day to day circulation. We would never advise you hide a key outside your property. All keys are covered under our insurance policy should they go missing and need to be replaced or, if deemed necessary, locks changed. Our walkers are all certified key holders after clearing a DBS check.
We have lots of lovely local routes from East Court and Ashplatswood, Forest Way, Worth Way, The Gulledge and Ashdown Forest. One of many advantages of living in Sussex is the beautiful countryside it has to offer. We sometimes take the dogs to Ardingly Resevoir or show ground and Jenners Field in Lingfield. The dogs love to run around and meet other walkers too. It’s a great social for all!
Our walkers are all carefully vetted and checked with animal welfare and safety in mind. Not only do they all hold a DBS checks and pet first aid certificates, they are confident and experienced with dogs and are selected for their responsible nature and the ability to think on their feet, be situationally aware and to stay calm in stressful situations. We’ll match you dog with one of a similar nature and energy level. It doesn’t always come down to breed and size but we make sure all dogs are comfortable and stress free. If they show signs of stress leaving the house, in transportation or on a walk we’ll get them home and safe or opt for a garden visit if possible, at the very least and keep you informed. We never push our dogs to do anything they’re not happy with so if they are nervous at all we take it really slow and are considerate of their boundaries, sometimes leaving them and trying again later. We offer individual/solo walks for fear aggressive or reactive dogs or those who’s size and strength means they are hard to handle. To qualify for a group walk your dog must be well socialised, happy to travel and keep up with a moderate pace. They must also have good recall and be able to go off the lead. All pets must be up to date with vaccinations and boosters, including kennel cough and must also be micro chipped, wearing a tag and up to date with flea and worming programmes.
We are fully insured which also includes employee liability to cover all our dog walkers and pet sitters. This includes care in your own home and out on our walks. We can’t take pets in our own homes as we don’t yet hold boarding licences. Before choosing a dog walker or pet sitter make sure you ask for the relevant certificates and licences. We are insured to stay in your property over night with your pets offering an alternative to kennels or home boarding. Our walkers and sitters all clear a DBS check and hold a pet first aid certificate with the basic handling and behaviour knowledge and experience at least. We would advise all owners to have their own pet insurance and although we’ll carry out work to the best of our ability and skillset, we can’t take responsibility for any accidents while in our care.
